Egyptian Startups Raise $56 Million in Q3 2026 as Fintech Dominates

On 14 October 2026 the Middle East Observer relayed data from Wamda and Digital Digest showing that Egyptian tech startups raised $56.45 million across 15 transactions in Q3 2026. About 87% came in September alone ($49.2 million in 7 deals); July saw $7.25 million in 8 deals, and no qualifying disclosed funding was recorded in August.

The largest deal was digital payments company Paymob's $35 million pre-Series C round, co-led by Mubadala Investment Company and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; it serves more than 390,000 merchants in Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Zeal raised $10 million for payment-linked customer identification, loyalty and analytics. Together the two took almost 80% of the quarter's funding. 3C Coding School raised $3 million to expand into Saudi Arabia and build an AI-powered learning platform.

Regionally, the report says MENA funding totalled about $1.65 billion across 145 transactions, including about $1 billion in Saudi Arabia and $507 million in the UAE. Egypt ranked third with about 3.4% of the total, and fintech attracted about $1.03 billion. Regional funding rose 108% from the previous quarter but remained 63% below the same period of 2025, so the recovery is real but uneven.

What does this mean for your business?
The practical message is that capital is flowing towards digital payments and services that connect merchants with customers. Whether you are a wholesaler, pharmacy or manufacturer, your customers will gradually expect to pay, order and track orders digitally. Start with what you can do now: an online catalogue, a clear ordering channel (such as WhatsApp or a form on your site) and a simple payment method. You do not need a million dollars for that, only a decision to make the customer experience digital from first contact to invoice.
